This year, commencement will be held on Clayton Field in the Owsley Brown Frazier Stadium at 9 a.m. on May 14, and festivities will begin with a baccalaureate mass on May 13 at 9 a.m. at St. Agnes Church.

Later, the honors and awards brunch will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Frazier Hall.

“At this event we acknowledge the accomplishments of outstanding students, primarily individuals graduating this May,” Provost Carole Pfeffer said.

All full-time faculty members are encouraged to attend this liturgical celebration.

Staff members and part-time faculty members are cordially invited to this event, as well, Pfeffer said.

Finally, the commencement ceremony will be held on May 14 at 9 a.m. outdoors on Clayton Field in the Owsley Brown Frazier Stadium and will last two to two and a half hours.

“This change in time, from 10 to 9, reflects our experience last year with unreasonably warm weather that took a toll on everyone,” Pfeffer said.

The stadium gates will open at 7 a.m., and guest seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pfeffer said commencement will be held rain or shine. Students and their guests to plan accordingly as only in the case of severe weather will festivities move indoors to Knights Hall.

In that case, each graduate will be limited to three guest tickets, which will be distributed to students at graduation rehearsal on May 11.

Each guest must have a severe weather ticket for admittance to Knights Hall, Commencement Coordinator Debi Griffin said.

Griffin said: “Commencement will also be live-streamed on large screens in Frazier Hall and the University Dining Room. No tickets are needed in these areas.”

While the alternate viewing area is designed for individuals with limited mobility, small children, or special needs, everyone is welcome.
