Elle King, the Grammy-nominated singer of “Ex’s and Oh’s” and local Americana singer Justin Paul Lewis will perform at Hillside 2016 on April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot behind Clayton Hall.

The release came after a day of speculation fueled by an announcement on April 6 that the performer would be announced the next day.

The Bellarmine Activities Council revealed the news on its Twitter and Facebook accounts and included a mock-up poster featuring both artists.

King, the headlining artist, had her song “Ex’s and Oh’s” nominated for two Grammy awards, one for Best Rock Performance and the other for Best Rock Song.

She is currently on her “Love Stuff” tour to promote her album which she released on February 17, 2015.

King has previously toured with Modest Mouse, Ed Sheeran and Dropkick Murphys.

This is her first headlining tour, although she has performed at a variety of events, including at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, and on the “Today” show.

Lewis is a Louisville-based performer who released an Americana album titled “Every Little Thing” on April 15.

Some students thought BAC had made good choices for Hillside but took too much time to announce the performers.

Senior Caleb Rohrig said: “I’m really excited that she’s coming to Bellarmine to play for us, but I think it’s very late in the season to announce this. I think they should have announced it a little bit sooner to drum up a little bit more excitement.”

Other students thought King was a last-minute choice who does not appeal to them.

“I feel like they’re just bringing in bad artists and they’re not appealing to the people that want to see good music, I’m talking about some good rap,” sophomore Alex Toyeas said.

Tickets are available through bellarminetickets.com, and are $7 for students,  faculty and staff, and $20 for the public.

Discounted tickets are limited to two per person.
