Stevens & Stevens Deli sits 1.6 miles from Bellarmine’s campus at 1114 Bardstown Road, and provides a wide variety of delicious sandwiches and side dishes at reasonable prices.
Although only open during lunch hours, the restaurant is guaranteed to be a hit among everyone.
After approximately six minutes of drive time, Bellarmine students can step into a New York-style establishment filled with flavor and character.
Menu items are creatively named; “Wendell Wheat Berry,” “Yellow Submarine” and “Isabella Tortellini” are just a few tasty options.
Sandwiches average around $7 and sides average around $2, and the menu provides vegetarian and vegan options.
The deli also offers a variety of drinks, including Jones Soda, Snapple, fountain drinks and tea, as well as desserts and old-fashioned candy.
Wall art includes portraits and images of well-known figures such as celebrities and politicians. There’s also a large painting of Times Square, which overlooks the deli’s three elevated booths.
The majority of the seating is of the traditional table-and-chairs-style. Tables are pretty close together, and as the deli is nearly always bustling with people, it may not be an ideal choice for those who get claustrophobic.
The service is always great, with smiling faces and food brought to customers’ tables with minimal wait, even during the lunchtime rush hour.
The only negative may be trying to find a parking spot, but if the minimal parking alongside the deli is full, the lower lot typically has vacancies.
The restaurant also prides itself on being mostly locally grown.
According to Stevens & Stevens’ website, those who operate the deli “take great pride in using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible.”
Stevens & Stevens also offers catering options, including box lunches and deli trays.
The deli is perfect for a lunch break with coworkers, friends or family, and it offers a kid-friendly environment.
Stevens & Stevens is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
