The Concord sat down with Sharon Gibson from the University Dining Hall to learn more about her and her time at Bellarmine.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Bellarmine?

A: I enjoy working with my students. I love each and every one of them, and I want them to know that I am there, and when they’re having a bad day, I can reach out and give them a hug. Being there for students, greeting them and changing a person’s day when they are upset.

Q: Why do you love your students so much?

A: I have worked in this field for 27 years. I have retired from food service in JCPS (Jefferson County Public Schools), and I have come along to Bellarmine, and for the past five years, the students here are just like the ones I left in middle school and high school, only bigger. But I love them.

Q: When you were our age, what were you up to?

A: I graduated from Central High School. I started food service in 1984. I was brought into food service because of the children. I have three children of my own. They are out of school now and have families of their own. I was a parent that attended a lot of their socials in school, and I feel that this was the field for me as a young adult.

Q: What is something that people should know about you?

A: I have three children, eight grandchildren and family and my church come first in my life.

Q: What are your favorite sports and tv shows?

A: I like watching the Empire and I watch a lot of tennis.

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: I don’t have any pets but my husband does. He has three goldfish named after our three daughters.
